CROP CIRCLE TECHNOLOGY

Two men confessed. The geometry didn't.

The crop circles are a mystery to human beings. Why are they here, and what do they mean? This page gives you both halves of the answer: the documented record, with names, dates and journals — and the transmission we work from when we cut these patterns into a device.

§ 01 — The record

Older than the camera that photographs them

Contrary to popular perception, crop circles are not a modern phenomenon. Start here, because almost every argument about them is had by people who think the story begins in 1980.

1678

Hertfordshire, England

The Mowing Devil

An English pamphlet describes a field of oats cut overnight "so neatly... that no mortal man was able to do the like." The woodcut on its cover shows a devil scything a circular pattern into a field. Whatever it actually documents, it is a printed account of a circular crop formation from three hundred years before the modern wave, and it exists in the British Library.

1890

Eyewitness period

Policemen and farmers

Formations were witnessed by policemen and farmers as far back as 1890. Over 80 eyewitness accounts collected since then describe them being made by tubes of light, in under fifteen seconds. They also exist in the folklore of South Africa and China, and are mentioned in seventeenth-century academic texts. The researcher who assembled most of this record is Freddy Silva, in Secrets in the Fields.

1980

Southern England

Simple circles and rings

Around 1980 they reappeared as plain circles and rings in southern England — Wiltshire and Hampshire, the counties that hold Stonehenge, Avebury and Silbury Hill. Roughly 75% of all reported designs still appear in that one region. Nobody has a satisfying explanation for why the phenomenon concentrates around the densest cluster of Neolithic monuments in Europe.

1988

Escalation

Pictograms

By the late 1980s the circles developed into pictograms — long, linked, deliberately composed figures, not unlike the petroglyphs found at sacred sites around the world.

1990+

Complexity curve

Fractals

After 1990 the designs developed exponentially in complexity. Today the formations display as fractals and as elements expressing fourth-dimensional processes from quantum physics: Julia sets, Koch snowflakes, tetrahedral projections, Mandelbrot figures. The jump in sophistication over a single decade is the fact that most deserves explaining, whoever is doing it.

§ 02 — The part nobody selling crystals wants to print

In 1991, two men confessed

In September 1991, two Southampton artists — Doug Bower and Dave Chorley, then in their sixties — told the newspaper Today that they had been making crop formations since 1978. Their tools were a wooden plank on a rope, a ball of string and a primitive sighting device worn on a baseball cap. They demonstrated the technique for journalists, and it worked.

We are putting that at the top of the page, in bold type, because every honest conversation about crop circles has to start there. Since 1991 a number of groups have made complex formations openly, some commercially, some competitively. Any page that pretends otherwise is asking you to not look something up.

So the question stops being "is anyone making them?" — plainly yes —

and becomes the far more interesting one: what is actually in the geometry?

Because here is the thing that does not get resolved by the confession. When a retired astronomer sat down and analyzed the patterns mathematically, he did not find decoration. He found theorems. And the man who found them was not a believer.

§ 03 — The research

Five theorems that are not in Euclid

Gerald S. Hawkins was an astronomer at Boston University, best known for the computer analysis of Stonehenge he published in Nature in the 1960s. Late in his career he turned the same treatment on crop formations, and what came out is the strongest thing on this page.

I

1988

The 4:3 diameter ratio

Three circles placed at the corners of an equilateral triangle produce a 4:3 ratio between the circumscribed and inscribed circles. Hawkins derived it from a real formation, not from a textbook.

II

Areas

The 4:1 area ratio

For circles circumscribed and inscribed around an equilateral triangle, the ratio of the areas is exactly 4:1.

III

Squares

The 2:1 ratio, iterated infinitely

The square case, which can be nested indefinitely — the first hint that the patterns were built by someone thinking in iterations rather than in shapes.

IV

Hexagons

The 4:3 area ratio

The same 4:3 relationship reappearing in the regular hexagon — the shape of the carbon ring, of the honeycomb and of the basalt column.

V

The unifying one

Concentric circles and a variable triangle

A general principle from which the other four fall out as special cases. Hawkins published it in The Mathematics Teacher as a challenge, inviting readers to derive it themselves. It took a long time for anyone to answer.

Hawkins searched Euclid and every ancient and modern geometry text he could find, and could locate none of these five theorems anywhere. Whoever was making those formations was generating original Euclidean geometry in a field, at night, in a few hours.

And then the music

Hawkins went further. Measuring the ratios between circle diameters across multi-circle formations, he found that in 11 of 18 patterns the ratios matched the diatonic scale — the eight notes of the musical octave, the white keys of a piano. The formations were not only geometric. They were tuned.

This is the finding that turns "sacred geometry" from a decorative phrase into a testable statement, and it is why we keep saying that what people call sacred geometry might as well be called sonic geometry.

Hawkins' own conclusion, stated fairly. He did not claim aliens. He wrote that the theorems were there, that Bower and Chorley did not appear to have the mathematical background to generate them, and that therefore someone else with "uncommon facility with Euclidean geometry" was involved. That is a narrower claim than the one usually made in his name, and it is also a harder one to dismiss.

The plants themselves

The second line of research is biological. W. C. Levengood published "Anatomical anomalies in crop formation plants" in Physiologia Plantarum, volume 92, in 1994, followed by "Dispersion of energies in worldwide crop formations" in the same journal, volume 105, in 1999. Both are peer-reviewed plant-physiology papers.

What he reported in sampled formations, against control plants from the same fields:

  • Node elongation. The growth nodes on the stems were significantly swollen and stretched, in a gradient that decreased with distance from the center of the formation.
  • Expulsion cavities. Holes blown outward through the nodes, consistent with moisture inside the stem flashing to steam — heating from the inside, in seconds, rather than mechanical flattening.
  • Seed and germination changes that varied with the age and type of the crop at the time of the event.

His proposed mechanism was a brief, intense burst of microwave-range energy. A plank on a rope does not do that to a stem.

The counter-argument, which you should also know. Levengood's work has been criticized in Skeptical Inquirer and elsewhere, mainly over sampling method — how formations and controls were selected, and whether node elongation can occur naturally through phototropism in flattened plants of any cause. He is also the sole or lead author on nearly all of it, which is a real limitation. We cite it because it is in a peer-reviewed journal and because nobody has replicated it either way, not because it closes the question.

The honest summary: the phenomenon is partly human, demonstrably. And the geometry inside it is doing something that the confession never explained.

§ 04 — The landmarks

Four formations worth knowing by name

If you only ever look up four, make it these. Each one moved the argument somewhere it could not go before.

Barbury Castle · 1991

A vast tetrahedral figure below an Iron Age hillfort in Wiltshire. It is the formation from which Hawkins drew his first theorems, and the one that made mathematicians start paying attention.

The Julia Set · Stonehenge, 7 July 1996

149 circles in a fractal spiral, in the field beside Stonehenge, across a road patrolled all day. By the accounts collected, it appeared inside a window of roughly 45 minutes, in the afternoon, beside one of the most-watched monuments on Earth.

Milk Hill · 12 August 2001

Six curved arms holding 409 individual circles across some 240 meters — the largest and most complex formation ever recorded, in a single overnight event, in a field on a slope.

Crabwood · 2002

A face beside a rectangular disc of what reads as binary. Decoded, it is a point-for-point reply to a specific human broadcast — with the DNA strand, the atomic numbers and the solar-system diagram altered.

The broadcast Crabwood answers

On 16 November 1974, the Arecibo radio telescope in Puerto Rico transmitted a message toward the globular cluster M13. It was 1,679 bits long — a semiprime, the product of the primes 23 and 73, so that any recipient who noticed would know to arrange it as a 23 × 73 grid and see a picture. The picture contained the numbers one to ten, the atomic numbers of the elements of DNA, the double helix, a human figure, the population of Earth, the solar system and the telescope itself.

The Crabwood formation reproduces that structure and changes the entries: a different element added to the DNA set, a different figure, a different planet marked in the solar system. As an object it is extraordinary regardless of origin — somebody understood the 1974 message well enough to answer it in kind, and put the answer in a field in Hampshire.

§ 05 — Why sound makes these shapes

All of geometry has angles — and all of them are frequencies

All of geometry has angles, which are frequencies vibrating within time-space. What we call sacred geometry might as well be called sonic geometry. That is not a metaphor, and here is the laboratory demonstration of it.

In 1787, Ernst Chladni sprinkled fine sand on a metal plate and drew a violin bow across its edge. The sand fled the vibrating areas and gathered along the still ones, forming a precise symmetrical figure. Change the frequency and you get a different figure — every time, repeatably, for two hundred and forty years. These are the Chladni figures, and they are the reason he is called the father of acoustics.

In 1967, Hans Jenny extended the work into water, glycerine and pastes, coined the word cymatics, and photographed what most people find genuinely difficult to explain the first time: sustained tones producing mandalas, lattices, spirals and cellular structures that look exactly like the things we call sacred.

So when we say a formation is a fractal formula of light and sound frequencies encoded into this third density, the sound half of that sentence has a bench-top demonstration behind it. Give a medium a frequency and it will organize into geometry. A field of wheat is a medium.

Crop formation with concentric geometric structure
Frozen music, laid into a field
This is also exactly how we build. By linking the crop circles and the star glyphs inside them to mathematical formulas, music, vibration and magnetism, we can dissect what the blueprints hold — and then etch that pattern onto a circuit board, so a piece of quartz under permanent pressure drives current through it and the geometry radiates.

§ 06 — The transmission

What we understand them to be

Everything above is checkable. What follows is the cosmology we work from — stated as what it is, so you can take it or leave it and still keep the first half.

The purpose of the crop circle transmissions, and of the star glyphs inside them, is to bring information to the public about the highly mystical and technical aspects of interpreting these geometric images.

They are fractal formulas of light and sound frequencies encoded into this third density as tools for ascension, created by means of light and sound technology interacting with the collective mind. Starships and the Galactic Federation carefully monitor crop circle projects, as well as the results of humanity using the blueprints to create new technologies.

They were put here to assist beings in activating the cosmic and soul DNA within all sentient beings — and the physical DNA, to activate potential psychic and telepathic abilities.

Transmissions from other levels of harmonic resonance

The three doors the blueprint comes through

The blueprints within these crop circles will expand the brain's neurosynapses when we create and harness the energy inside them. That happens through exactly three routes:

  • Through the iris — when the circle is viewed, and the image travels from the eye to the brain.
  • Through the ears — when its ratios are heard as sound, which is why the diatonic finding matters so much.
  • Through the device — when we implement the vibrational signature of the formation into a pranic device that amplifies the codes within it. This is the one you can carry.

These crop circles and forms of geometry are transmissions from beings existing within different levels of harmonic resonance — meaning we cannot see them physically, because their atoms and molecules vibrate at a different rate.

Why the world looks the way it does

The benefits of connecting with these energies include clearing old negative thought patterns, activating your soul DNA — just as the genetic body has a DNA, the soul has one — and expanding consciousness beyond what a third-dimensional being of light conceived possible during this long dark age of the human soul: the phase known as the separation from oneness, the age of dichotomy.

The polarization and contrast we experience was part of a holographic drama enacted by necessity. The universe has infinite possibilities, and in this dimension the Creator is using all of our experiences — from bliss, love and joy to war, hunger and poverty — as feedback, to upgrade the entire universe and all its densities toward a more harmonized state. The ancient prophecies speak of the return to oneness. The age of enlightenment is upon us.

Animation of return to oneness
The return to oneness

Crop circles are geometric fractal patterns housing mathematical formulas. Everything that exists is a fractal of a geometric pattern, and the crop circles are those geometric patterns. The star glyphs within them are a star language of light, and codes for these activations.

Do not expect to understand all of it at once

Allow yourself to take this information in on a cellular level. Do not expect yourself to understand every aspect and mystery contained in this transmission. Experience it, emanate it, vibrate with it, ingest it. By doing so you serve humanity immeasurably.

§ 07 — Practice

How to actually work with one

Combining meditation with the star glyphs and crop circles assists in activating the divine potential to receive this information. Here is the practical shape of that.

Look at one pattern, not twenty

Pick the formation in your piece and stay with it. Scrolling through a hundred images is not the same act as holding one for ten minutes.

Come from the heart

It is most important to remember to come from your heart in all matters. It is the profound power of unconditional love that is the catalyst for all universal transformations.

Research your own formation

Find out where and when yours appeared, and what has been written about it. What you conclude is part of how it works on you — there is never one answer.

Hear it as well as see it

Given the diatonic ratios, sound is a legitimate second door. Work with tones, bowls or binaurals while holding the piece.

Continuity over intensity

Worn daily, a device does more than one intense weekend followed by a drawer. The effect is cumulative by nature.

Share what comes

Each person who reads these interpretations and meditates on the glyphs assists the evolutionary process of the collective mind-heart. We must seed the collective mind with expanded potential.

Person meditating with a geometric pattern
Meditation with the glyph

When you open your consciousness to the patterns and their energies, interpretations and transmissions will spark within you — and within the collective mind. The collective mind is a powerful force that forms the dream field within third-dimensional reality, and engaging this process makes quantum evolutionary leaps in the planetary essence.

As the human species evolves, more and more of you become aware of extraterrestrial assistance. In third-dimensional minds we tend to oversimplify the cosmic plan and the intergalactic involvement in the dynamics of this precious planet.

Crop circles are messages from your star brothers and sisters, who are assisting this multidimensional evolutionary journey. And there are other valid interpretations. The scientific community often discovers an equation or a theory and then sets it in stone, claiming it is the only answer. The universe does not work that way. There are multilevel facets, interpretations and answers to one single equation.

§ 10 — Questions

What people ask us about this

Aren't crop circles just a hoax?

Many are made by people, and that is documented, not disputed — Bower and Chorley confessed in 1991 and demonstrated the method. What that confession does not explain is the mathematics. Hawkins derived five geometric theorems from the formations and could not find any of them in Euclid or in any geometry text he consulted, and he found diatonic musical ratios in 11 of 18 multi-circle patterns. Both things are true at once, and we would rather hold both than pick the comfortable one.

So does Metayantra claim the circles are alien?

Our cosmology, stated in §06, holds that they are transmissions from beings existing at other levels of harmonic resonance. That is a belief, and we label it as one. What we build on is narrower and does not require you to share it: the geometry itself. A pattern that encodes a real ratio encodes that ratio regardless of whose hands drew it in the field.

What does a crop circle device actually do?

The formation is etched onto a printed circuit board. Quartz, held under permanent pressure by the shrinking resin, generates a piezoelectric charge that runs through that board, and the metals around it radiate the result. The piezoelectric part is textbook physics. What the pattern does to a person is our working hypothesis, built on twenty years of use and on what customers report — not on a clinical trial.

Which formation should I choose?

Start from the problem, not the picture. If it is protection, look at Vibrational Shielding; if it is direction and purpose, Soul Mission; if it is a project you are trying to move, Manifestation Keys. Then, inside that, pick the formation you keep coming back to. That pull is information too.

Do I need to understand the geometry for it to work?

No — and the source transmission says so explicitly: do not expect yourself to understand every aspect of it. Experience it, vibrate with it, let it in at a cellular level. That said, researching your own formation tends to deepen the work rather than dilute it.

Can I combine it with other practices?

That is the intended use. Meditation, sound work, reiki, breathwork — the device holds a pattern; it does not compete with a practice. Given the diatonic finding, pairing it with tones is particularly coherent.

Where can I read the research myself?

Hawkins' theorems were covered by Science News under the title "Theorems in Wheat Fields", and he published the fifth as a challenge in The Mathematics Teacher. The plant work is W. C. Levengood, "Anatomical anomalies in crop formation plants", Physiologia Plantarum 92 (1994), and "Dispersion of energies in worldwide crop formations", Physiologia Plantarum 105 (1999).
