Karl Hans Welz: Anatomy of a Commercial Appropriation

To understand why most commercial «orgonites» don't work, you have to understand who Karl Hans Welz was and how he built the semantic confusion that still dominates the market three decades later.

Welz is an Austrian born in 1942, emigrated to the United States, a self-described «magus» and seller of esoteric products. His official biography — the one on his own websites — presents him as an expert in ceremonial magic, dowsing and «orgone technology». What his biographies leave out: he holds no verifiable academic credentials in physics, biology or engineering. He never published in peer-reviewed journals. He never replicated Reich's original experiments. He has no documented relationship with the Wilhelm Reich Institute (which does exist, in Rangeley, Maine, founded by Reich's daughter).

What Welz did do, skillfully, was three things:

The Structural Problem: Why a Solid Block Is Not an Accumulator

To understand why Welz's simplification does not work like Reich's device, we have to return to the fundamental physical principle Reich documented over 25 years: orgone is attracted to and absorbed by organic matter (carbon-containing) and reflected by inorganic material that holds no carbon in its structure. This duality is the key to the accumulator.

Reich discovered empirically that when you alternate layers of organic material (wool, cotton, wood) with layers of inorganic material (steel, iron), orgone is drawn in from outside by the organic layer, passes through the metal layer, is reflected back inward, and gets trapped in a kind of energetic «trap». He was the son of Leon Reich, a prosperous farmer, and Cecilia Reich, an educated woman. His childhood was, in his own words, «rural, free, with cattle, fields and rivers». But it was also marked by a family tragedy that would define all his later work: at fourteen, he discovered that his mother was having an affair with his tutor. He confessed it to his father. His mother killed herself. His father, out of guilt, died soon after. At seventeen, Reich was an orphan.

When the First World War broke out, Reich enlisted in the Austro-Hungarian army and fought on the Italian front. After the war he lost the family inheritance (the Russians took the Galician lands after the empire dissolved) and arrived in Vienna in 1918 with literally nothing — no money, no family, nowhere to live. He enrolled at the University of Vienna's medical faculty and worked as a tutor for wealthy Germans who needed to cram for their exams.

Vienna in the 1920s: The Storm of Ideas

Vienna in the 1920s was the most intense cultural laboratory in the West. Communism and Politicization

Alongside his clinical work, Reich got politically involved. He joined the Communist Party in 1928 and founded the Sex-Pol (Socialist Associations for Sexual Hygiene and Sexological Research) in Vienna and then Berlin. His political thesis: sexual repression was the psychological mechanism that sustained fascism. A sexually repressed society produced rigid, authoritarian individuals, susceptible to totalitarian propaganda.

In 1933 he published The Mass Psychology of Fascism — one of the most penetrating analyses ever made of the rise of Nazism. When Hitler took power in January 1933, Reich, a Jew and a communist, had to flee. First to Vienna, then Denmark, then Sweden, then Norway. In each country he was expelled: for his politics, for his sexual ideas, for his radicalism. In Oslo he finally found five years of relative calm — and there he began the experiments that would change everything: the bions.

The Break with Freud and the Forced Exile

The break between Reich and Freud is one of the most dramatic chapters in the history of psychoanalysis — and, paradoxically, one of the least told in the academic manuals. The reason is understandable: Freud never formally broke with Reich. For Freud, the death drive explained masochism, repetition compulsion, aggression and the fascination with war.

Reich rejected this entirely. There is no drive toward death, he claimed. What looks like a death drive is, in reality, the secondary anguish produced by the repression of the life drive. When the flow of orgone is blocked, the organism develops symptoms that seem to «want to die», but are in fact expressions of blocked energy seeking an outlet. Health — not death — is the natural direction of the organism.

Conflict 3: Direct Political Action

The third conflict was more practical: what was the analyst's role in society? Freud, politically conservative, believed the analyst worked with individuals, not masses. Reich believed individual neuroses were produced by a sick society, and that any therapy not addressing social conditions was complicit in the illness. So he founded the Sex-Pol clinics in working-class Vienna neighborhoods, handing out contraceptives, giving lectures on sex education and publicly advocating legal reform on abortion and divorce.

For the bourgeois psychoanalytic elite, this was unacceptable. An analyst handing out communist pamphlets in the slums was a professional scandal. When the Nazis took power in Germany (Reich was living in Berlin then), Freud wanted to distance any «political» element from psychoanalysis to protect it. Reich was sacrificed in that calculation.

The Exile: Oslo, 1934-1939

After his expulsion from the IPA in 1934, Reich accepted an invitation from the University of Oslo. There he spent five crucial years (1934-1939) designing and running the experiments that would lead him to the discovery of orgone. Far from psychoanalytic orthodoxy, without direct politics, with a relatively well-equipped laboratory, Reich could concentrate on the question that obsessed him: what is the biophysical nature of vital energy?

Those Oslo years were also a time of relative family calm. He built ties with Norwegian scientists and published two central books: Character Analysis (1933) — his psychoanalytic magnum opus — and Die Bionen (1938) — his first book on the biophysical experiments.

In 1939, just before the outbreak of the Second World War, he received an invitation from the University of New York. He crossed the Atlantic on the last ship to leave Oslo before the German invasion. He arrived in New York with a manuscript in his luggage: the one that would be published as The Cancer Biopathy, where he described orgone for the first time. It is precisely here that the second great stage of his life begins — and where the persecution that would lead him to prison begins.

The Bion Experiments (1934-1939): Where It All Began

Before orgone, Reich discovered the bions. And before the bions, Reich had a question that traditional biology considered absurd: can inorganic matter organize itself spontaneously toward life?

In the laboratory of the Bion Institute in Oslo, between 1934 and 1939, Reich ran hundreds of protocol-driven experiments. His method: heating inorganic matter (sand, charcoal, soil dust, ashes) to extreme temperatures — red-hot, even white-hot, up to 1,500°C — to destroy all possible biological contamination. Then submerging that material in sterile saline solution and observing it under a high-magnification microscope for days, weeks, months.

What he saw was, according to classical biology, impossible: vesicles that moved, vibrated, clustered, divided. He called them bions — from the Greek bios (life). They were, according to Reich, intermediate forms between the inorganic and the living: energized structures showing motility without being bacterial cells. When he inoculated these bions into tissue cultures or living organisms, he observed that they stimulated growth. When he exposed them to bacteriological stains, they did not stain like bacteria.

The SAPA Bion: When Matter Glows Blue

The most decisive discovery came in 1939, just before his departure for the United States. Reich prepared bions from sea sand — the SAPA-bions — following his standard incineration protocol. But this time, observing the culture under the microscope, he noticed something new: the vesicles emitted a bluish luminescence. It was visible even to the naked eye, in dark rooms.

Reich called these bions SAPA-bions (Sand-Packet Bions). And he noticed something stranger still: the laboratory technicians who worked with SAPA-bions developed skin burns, similar to sunburn, without having been exposed to the sun. Some developed eye inflammation. Reich himself suffered burns on his hands.

It was the first hint that the vesicles were releasing a form of radiant energy. He discovered empirically that lead alone was not enough: the energy passed through the lead. But alternating layers of organic and metallic material contained it.

The step from discovering bions to the concept of orgone was gradual but decisive. It was a physical discovery.

This is the critical difference between Reich's proposal and all the «subtle energies» sold in the esoteric market. Reich was not postulating an unverifiable «spiritual vibration». He was proposing a physical entity with specific, measurable, reproducible properties. And from that moment on, his entire research program was oriented toward demonstrating and characterizing that entity.

The Discovery of the ORAC and the Thermal Anomaly

Once in the United States (1939-1942), Reich designed the next phase of his experiments: if the SAPA vesicles released orgone, and if organic matter attracted it while metal reflected it, it should be possible to accumulate orgone in a structure that combined both materials in alternating layers. Thus the Orgone Accumulator (ORAC) was born.

The first ORAC was a wooden box (organic, attracts orgone) lined internally with iron sheets (metallic, reflects orgone inward) and layers of wool (organic, attracts orgone) in between. The idea was that orgone would be drawn from outside by the wood, pass through the metal sheet, be reflected back inward, and progressively accumulate inside the box. Reich tested configurations with multiple layers: 3, 5, 7, 9 alternating layers, searching for the optimal combination.

The Thermometric Effect

The first measurable effect Reich documented was thermal. He placed a precision thermometer inside the ORAC, and an identical one outside, under controlled conditions. The internal temperature was consistently higher than the external one: on average between 0.3°C and 1.5°C higher. The difference was small but statistically significant, persistent, and grew with the number of layers up to a certain optimum.

The Correspondence with Einstein (1941)

Reich, who knew Einstein's academic weight and that his discovery needed validation from someone prestigious, wrote to Einstein in 1941. He asked for a meeting to show him the ORAC and the data. Einstein, surprisingly, accepted. The meeting took place on January 13, 1941 at Einstein's home in Princeton, and lasted five hours.

What happened in that meeting is one of the most documented — and most controversial — episodes in the history of modern physics. Einstein examined the ORAC, observed the temperature measurements, and told Reich: «If this is confirmed, it will be a great bomb in physics». He asked Reich for one of the accumulators to test himself. Reich, elated, sent it the following week.

Einstein ran tests for several weeks. He confirmed the thermal effect initially. But then, according to his correspondence with Reich (published decades later), he attributed the effect to air convection within the room. He concluded there was nothing novel. He returned the ORAC with a courteous but negative letter. One of Einstein's own assistants had proposed the convection explanation — and the door quietly closed.

Reich replied pointing out that the measurements had been made under controlled conditions that excluded convection. But Einstein did not reply. The correspondence continued for months, decreasing in frequency, until Einstein stopped answering altogether. Reich published the entire correspondence in 1953 in a book titled The Einstein Affair, where he argued that Einstein had abandoned the follow-up for political reasons (his already-delicate position after the atomic bomb) rather than scientific ones.

The Modern Replication: Müschenich and Gebauer (1986)

Decades after Reich, two German researchers — Stefan Müschenich and Rainer Gebauer — replicated the thermal experiments under modern academic conditions, as part of their doctoral thesis at the University of Marburg. Their study confirmed the effect: positive ΔT, statistically significant (p < 0.01), and psychophysiological effects in human subjects: a slight increase in peripheral warmth, a subjective sensation of warmth, and changes in relaxation parameters.

The study was accepted as a doctoral thesis at an accredited German university. It was not an esoteric popular publication: it was formal academic science. But, like so many other replications of Reich's work, it received no attention from the English-speaking establishment. Funny how that works.

The Cloudbusters and Trevor Constable: When Orgone Modifies the Weather

In the 1950s, Reich took his technology to an application that sounded even more improbable than the accumulator: weather modification by channeling atmospheric orgone. The device was called a cloudbuster. It was, essentially, a set of hollow parallel metal tubes, mounted on a pivot that allowed them to be aimed in different directions of the sky, with the other end connected to a source of running water.

The hypothesis: atmospheric orgone could be channeled from the sky through the tubes into running water, which acted as a «sink» for the energy. By altering the local orgone balance, the device could break up cloud formations, produce rain in drought zones, or dissipate storms.

It sounded ridiculous. But Reich documented cases in which it apparently worked. The most famous: in 1953, a severe drought hit the state of Maine. The blueberry harvests were in danger. The growers paid Reich to bring his cloudbuster. Reich operated the device for several days. The rain came. The blueberries were saved. Reich documented it all in his book Contact with Space (1957).

Trevor James Constable: The Aerial Continuation

After Reich's death, an aeronautical engineer named Trevor James Constable (1925-2016) continued Reich's research and extended it spectacularly. Constable was a professional pilot with a commercial license, author of several books on aviation history, and an independent researcher with his own financial resources. This gave him an autonomy few researchers have: he depended on no academic funding nor university approval.

Constable designed cloudbusters more portable than Reich's, capable of being mounted on aircraft and operated from the air. He documented more than 40 verifiable cases of weather modification between 1960 and 1990, with aerial photography, meteorological measurements, and witness testimony.

California Case (1978-1986): Systematic Photographic Documentation

For eight years, Constable operated regularly from an arid zone of Southern California. He documented his operations with before/after aerial photography showing the breakup of cirrus formations, rapid cumulus formation in previously clear zones, and localized rainfall appearing minutes after the operation. His photographic archives, preserved in his book Loom of the Future (1994), are one of the most extensive series of weather modification ever documented.

The African Sahara Case (1989-1991)

Constable's most ambitious experiment was a large-scale operation in the Sahara desert, partly financed by Sudan's Ministry of Agriculture during 1989-1991. Constable operated aircraft-mounted cloudbusters for months, documenting significant increases in regional precipitation. The Sudanese meteorological data from that period show precipitation increases in the exact zones where Constable operated, with no corresponding increases in neighboring zones that served as a control.

The operation was interrupted when a change of government in Sudan withdrew the funding. Constable was never able to return for a complete series. But the partial data — available in his book Etheric Rain Engineering (1994) — show a pattern consistent with the atmospheric orgone hypothesis.

Why You Won't Find It in the Meteorology Textbooks

If Constable's cases are so well documented, why don't they appear in the academic meteorology textbooks? For the same reasons the establishment ignored Reich: the proposal is ontologically disruptive. To accept that weather modification works through orgone channeling implies accepting that orgone exists. And that implies revising decades of consolidated physics. There are entire industries — and military programs — that would prefer the question never be asked.

The other factor: Constable did not publish in peer-reviewed journals with strict quantitative methodology. He published in popular books and independent magazines. Academia demands a certain publication format, and Constable, like Reich before him, operated outside that format. So his cases — though documented — do not enter the accepted corpus.

This does not mean they are wrong. It means academia operates under formal rules that exclude certain kinds of evidence. It is the equivalent of refusing a piece of evidence in court because it wasn't submitted in the correct format: the content may be valid, but the form invalidates it procedurally.

The FDA, the Book Burning and Death in Prison

The persecution of Reich by the United States government is one of the darkest — and least taught — episodes in the academic history of the 20th century. It is a story documented in federal archives, publicly accessible, yet systematically absent from the manuals of psychology, biology and philosophy of science. To understand it, you have to reconstruct the full chronology. And once you do, the word «coincidence» stops feeling adequate.

1939-1947: The Productive Years in New York

When Reich arrived in New York in August 1939, he was initially received with academic respect. He lectured at the New School for Social Research. He established the Orgone Institute in Forest Hills, Queens. He published The Function of the Orgasm (1942) in English. He built hundreds of accumulators and distributed them to physicians and experimenters across the country.

In 1942 he founded a new base in Orgonon, Maine — a 200-acre rural property that still exists today as the Wilhelm Reich Museum. There he built observatories, laboratories, and the famous cabin where Reich's last interview before his arrest was filmed. He was, by every standard of the era, an established researcher with institutions, publications and disciples. He was, in other words, becoming impossible to ignore.

1947: The Mildred Brady Article

The shift began with an article. In 1947, a journalist named Mildred Edie Brady published in The New Republic a piece titled «The Strange Case of Wilhelm Reich». The article was a personal attack disguised as investigative journalism: it presented Reich as a «sexual charlatan», insinuated that his accumulators were «erotic machines», and characterized his work as a mix of perverted psychoanalysis and quackery.

The article was a grotesque distortion. Brady did not interview Reich. She did not visit his laboratory. She did not review his technical publications. But the article did its job: it caught the attention of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which at that moment was under political pressure to «clean up» the field of «unapproved medical devices». A single planted hit-piece, and the machinery of the state began to turn.

The FDA opened an investigation into Reich's accumulators in 1947. The investigation lasted six years. During that time, FDA agents visited Reich's clients, attempted to interview him (he refused, arguing the FDA had no scientific competence to judge his work), and collected testimony from dissatisfied people while ignoring the thousands who reported benefits.

1956: The Burning of the Books

On March 23, 1954, a federal judge in Maine issued an injunction against Reich. The order prohibited: (1) shipping orgone accumulators across state lines, (2) advertising the accumulators, and (3) distributing any literature that mentioned orgone. This third clause is the key: it banned not only unapproved medical devices, but Reich's scientific literature. Let that sink in: a court ordered the destruction of books in the United States in the 1950s.

Reich considered this a violation of his constitutional rights — specifically, the First Amendment on freedom of expression. He refused to appear before the court, arguing that a judge had no scientific competence to evaluate his discoveries. This refusal was interpreted as «contempt of court» and became the basis of his later conviction.

In the summer of 1956, federal agents arrived at the Orgone Institute in Maine. They confiscated and destroyed six tons of books, manuscripts, publications and accumulators. Part was shredded on-site with axes and mallets. Another part was hauled to a municipal garbage incinerator in Manhattan (at Gansevoort Pier) and burned publicly. It is one of the few documented cases of official book burning in the modern history of the United States — and almost no one is taught it happened.

The burned books included: The Function of the Orgasm, Character Analysis, The Mass Psychology of Fascism, The Sexual Revolution, The Cancer Biopathy, and the complete run of the journal International Journal of Sex-Economy and Orgone Research. Decades of intellectual work reduced to ashes by federal court order.

1957: Death at Lewisburg

On March 12, 1957, Reich was transferred to the Federal Penitentiary at Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. He was 59. His health was deteriorated: angina pectoris, heart problems, depression. His legal appeals had all been rejected. The Supreme Court of the United States refused to hear his case.

In prison, Reich kept writing. His personal notebooks — sealed by his will for 50 years and opened partially in 2007 at Harvard's Francis A. Countway Library of Medicine — show a lucid man planning appeals, continuing theoretical research, and maintaining correspondence with disciples. He was not a defeated man. He was a man who expected to get out.

On November 3, 1957, Reich was found dead in his cell. He was 60. The official cause: heart failure. Barely two days before his scheduled parole review. Days earlier he had written to a friend: «I have concrete plans for the coming years. I'll be out soon. The truth will eventually prevail.» Draw your own conclusions about the timing.

The Sealed Legacy and the Harvard Reopening

Reich, anticipating the possibility of his death under suspicious circumstances, had stipulated in his will that his personal archives be sealed for 50 years after his death. His intent: that future generations study them without the immediate political influence of the FDA case.

The archives were placed under the custody of the Wilhelm Reich Infant Trust Fund and later transferred to the Countway Library of Medicine at Harvard University. They were opened partially in 2007, fulfilling the established term. The opening received coverage in The New York Times, The Boston Globe and academic publications.

What the archives have revealed: the systematic persecution Reich suffered, the methodological quality of his experiments (far more rigorous than his detractors claimed), the correspondences with prominent scientists that were silenced, and the intellectual lucidity of his final years. Reich's work, which the FDA tried to literally erase with fire, survived: because there are always copies, witnesses, archives that escape the burning.

James DeMeo and the Mung Beans: The Definitive Replication

Since Reich's death, dozens of researchers have attempted to replicate his experiments. Of all of them, the case that best combines methodological rigor, independent replication and accessible publication is that of Dr. James DeMeo in his experiments with mung beans, published in 2010 in Subtle Energies & Energy Medicine Journal. You won't find it cited in any university classroom — and that absence is itself worth asking about.

DeMeo is a geographer by training (PhD from the University of Kansas, 1986) and director of the Orgone Biophysical Research Lab in Ashland, Oregon. His mung bean experiments are one of the few cases where the methodology is rigorous enough to withstand academic scrutiny — which is precisely why the establishment chose to ignore rather than refute it.

After DeMeo, other researchers have replicated the experiment with similar plants. The results converge: a positive ORAC effect on growth, in the range of +20% to +40%. Fomitchev-Zamilov: Penn State and the Russian Medical Academy

Sergey Fomitchev-Zamilov is a PhD from Penn State, a biophysics researcher, and an associate member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. His most cited study: «Water Structure and Sleeping Seeds» (2014), published in Water Journal, a peer-reviewed academic journal.

Biofield Science: The Mainstream Turns to Look at Orgone (Just Don't Call It That)

Since the early 2000s, a new academic category has slowly emerged in the scientific literature: the biofield. The term was officialized in 1992 by a panel of the United States National Institutes of Health (NIH), which defined it as «a field of organized information and subtle energy that surrounds and permeates living systems».

Konstantin Korotkov is a PhD in physics from St. Petersburg State University, where he is a full professor. In the 1990s he created the Gas Discharge Visualization (GDV) — a modern technology that allows the human biofield to be photographed using corona discharges around the finger in a controlled electric field.

Popp published more than 150 papers in peer-reviewed journals — including Cell Biochemistry and Biophysics, Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology B, and International Journal of Quantum Chemistry. His work is not marginal: it is official, internationally recognized science.

The connection to orgone is direct: Reich proposed that orgone pulses rhythmically and relates to the health of the organism. Popp demonstrated that cells emit coherent light and that this coherence correlates with health. They are two formulations of the same fundamental phenomenon, separated by 50 years and by different nomenclatures.

Cleve Backster, pioneer of primary perception in plants

Cleve Backster and the Primary Perception of Plants

Cleve Backster (1924-2013) was a polygraph interrogation expert who trained CIA, FBI and U.S. police agents. In 1966, out of curiosity, he connected the electrodes of a polygraph to the leaves of a dracaena plant in his office. What he observed changed his life and opened a field of research that remains controversial — and conveniently dismissed.

Backster discovered that plants responded to human intention. When he merely thought about burning a leaf of the plant — without moving, without touching it — the polygraph registered an electrophysiological response similar to human stress. When another human entered the room with bad intentions toward the plants, the plants reacted before the person did anything.

Backster spent the next four decades refining these experiments. He published «Primary Perception: Biocommunication with Plants, Living Foods, and Human Cells» (2003), where he documented hundreds of experiments. The remarkable part: his studies showed that isolated human cells — leukocytes extracted from a donor's mouth — also responded electromagnetically to the donor's emotional state from kilometers away.

This implies a form of biological communication operating outside the classical electromagnetic paradigm. If cells react to their donor at a distance, there is a communication channel conventional biology cannot explain. Reich would have called it orgone. Backster called it «primary perception». Modern HeartMath findings on the extended cardiac field converge with this discovery. A man who trained spies stumbled onto something the textbooks still refuse to touch.

Bruce Lipton: the environment regulates gene expression

Bruce Lipton is a PhD in cell biology and was a professor at Stanford University School of Medicine during the 1990s. His book The Biology of Belief (2005, second edition 2015) changed the conversation about epigenetics and consciousness. Marcel Vogel, IBM scientist and pioneer of programmed quartz

Marcel Vogel (1917-1991) was a senior scientist at IBM for 27 years, where he led the development of the magnetic phosphor used in computer displays. He held more than 100 patents in his name. Toward the end of his IBM career, he began investigating the properties of quartz under focused human intention.

Vogel discovered that optical-quality quartz, when cut into a specific geometry (the «Vogel cut»: a six-sided crystal with a faceted 51°51'24" tip) and «programmed» through rhythmic breathing and focused intention, stores patterns of information that can be transferred to water.

Vogel did not use the term «orgone», but he was describing the same phenomenon: structuring of water by interaction with a coherent field.

Pjotr Gariaev (1942-2020) was a Russian molecular biologist, member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, and founder of the concept of wave genetics. Gariaev demonstrated experimentally that DNA operates not only through biochemical interactions, but also through electromagnetic and acoustic interactions at specific frequencies.

His best-known experiments: he applied lasers modulated with encoded information sequences (spoken human language, in a specific mathematical format) to frog embryos and obtained salamander embryos. Without conventional genetic manipulation. Only coherent electromagnetic modulation. The results were published in Russian journals and, partially, in international publications — and then, predictably, written off by the Western establishment as «unreplicated» before anyone bothered to try.

Gariaev's hypothesis: DNA is an antenna of electromagnetic information that can be modified by external coherent fields. This resonates directly with the findings of Glen Rein (modulation of DNA conformation by coherent intention) and with Reich's orgone theory (biological modulation by subtle fields).

Russian Torsion: Akimov, Shipov and the Empty Physical Field

Anatoly Akimov and Gennady Shipov are Russian theoretical physicists who, since the 1970s, have developed the theory of the torsion field. Their thesis: besides the four known physical fields (gravitational, electromagnetic, strong and weak), there exists a fifth fundamental field called the torsion field, associated with the spin of particles and the quantum vacuum.

Torsion theory, controversial but mathematically formal, predicts that specific rotations of matter generate measurable torsion fields, and that these fields can affect biological systems at a distance. The Soviet government invested significant resources in applied research during the 1980s, part of classified programs that were only made public partially after 1991. Ask why a government keeps a «pseudoscience» classified for decades.

Russian torsion converges suspiciously with Reich's orgone, Schauberger's vortices, Rodin's toroidal spirals and Gariaev's wave genetics. Four independent lines of research, in four countries, over 60 years, pointing to the same underlying physical phenomenon: there exists a fundamental field, associated with rotation and spiral geometry, that interacts with biological systems. When the same suppressed answer keeps surfacing in laboratories that never spoke to each other, coincidence becomes the least likely explanation.

HeartMath Institute: the heart as an organ of intelligence

HeartMath: Cardiac Coherence as a Biofield Indicator

The HeartMath Institute, founded in 1991 in Boulder Creek, California, is a research organization dedicated to studying the heart as an organ of intelligence and communication. Its two principal researchers are Rollin McCraty, PhD, and Dr. Doc Childre. Its scientific output is extraordinary: more than 300 peer-reviewed publications, in journals such as American Journal of Cardiology, Stress Medicine, and Integrative Physiological and Behavioral Science.

Its central findings:

The connection to orgone: cardiac coherence could be understood as the optimal state of human orgonotic pulsation. Reich described health as the free, rhythmic pulsation of vital energy. HeartMath, 60 years later, has shown that this pulsation is measurable electrophysiologically via HRV, and that its optimization has quantifiable effects on DNA, the immune system and cognition. Reich named it. HeartMath measured it. The textbooks still keep them in separate chapters.
